Glitz and Glamour… Monaco
Perhaps the most glamorous location across the whole of Europe, Monaco is the center of wealth and money for this part of the world. It’s easy to see why.
As you enter the city winding your way down the hill you’re greeted with the most glorious views of this stunning port that will quite simply take your breath away. The water gleams crystal clear and shimmers with the sunlight, while all of the buildings seem themselves to have been designed in a way that will just reflect the light.
A few years ago we were lucky enough to have traveled here to watch the Formula One race that snakes it’s way through the city. Although not the fastest race (due to the circuit being the streets) it is perhaps the most famous.
Everything here is expensive, as you’d perhaps expect from somewhere with a reputation such as this. However, if you can afford the luxury then I’d definitely say that staying on one of the many boats in the harbour that are available to rent would be my choice for how to live the life in Monaco.
Activities wise, I’m not much of a gambler. But, despite this it would be a massive shame to come somewhere such as this and not explore the casino scene at least once? You wouldn’t go to Vegas or Atlantic City and decide that you don’t believe in cards or roulette right? (Though Monaco is a little classier than either of those destinations!) The Casino de Monte-Carlo is perhaps the most legendary and, in my opinion the best for gaining the true Monte Carlo experience.
While I loved every second here I’d definitely say that you shouldn’t stay too long. Not just in order to save yourself from having to remortgage your house, but the atmosphere could be quite ‘choking’. Live it up for a few days, but then head off somewhere different… Just like us…
